I am proud to say I am a Fifth Doctor fan who hates "The Caves of Androzani." I hate it not only because My Doctor dies, but because it's all depressing doom-and-gloom and foreshadowing to how depressing the Seventh Doctor era would be.

I also hate everything related to the Seventh Doctor era, with the exceptions of Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as human beings. (Oh, and Bonnie Langford, too, I suppose, but I don't know her as "well" as I know the other two.) I especially despise the novels, and would never EVER consider them cannon. (Ditto Big Finish, at least for anything involving Erimem.)

Besides, I don't know what you're complaining about, DW fandom was ruled by Seventh Doctor fans from 1990-2005. It would be going backwards to have the fandom ruled by them. (I can only hope that in 10 years, the Rose obsessives will finally GO AWAY.)

i loved the first ep of caves when it looked like it was going to be interesting and a little mindfucky. then it was tedious and awful and ended with anthony ainley's rotating head.

I also hate everything related to the Seventh Doctor era, with the exceptions of Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as human beings.

does this mean you hate THE KANDYMAN??? D:

dw fandom wasn't ruled by seven fans from 1990-2005, it was ruled by fans who hated seven but weren't allowed to do anything else but write about him until the eighth doctor came along, and then nobody knew wtf to do with him!

You know, this explains the NAs SO MUCH.

The TV Seventh Doctor era is much less depressing than the late Fifth Doctor era and Sixth Doctor era. It doesn't have any companions being killed off, it doesn't have any stories that are entirely about the guest cast brutally murdering one another while the Doctor is utterly ineffectual, and whatever you think about the socialism, it at least implies a world view in which human nature is capable of improving.

Yeah, the couple of Seven serials I've seen definitely have a spirit of "The victory's in the struggle" coming off them, in a good way.
