The letter. And, stuff.

it's the bit where he made a stupid mistake because he wasn't thinking and then he lost her forever.

AT THE END WHEN YOU SEE WHY IT HAPPENED AND AND and it is all POINTLESS and A MISTAKE and TRAGIC.

moff has a thing for pointless, tragic mistakes resulting in lost love -- look at lee and donna in FotD. which also makes me sad.

last night i was talking to [livejournal.com profile] cesario and said that after ten goes all crazy and "time will obey me!" he should go back and save reinette. because it's the kind of thing he would do.

OMMMMMMMMMMMMG one of my favorites. If "Madame De Pompadour" comes up on my playlist, it takes all my willpower to not go all wibbly.

Me too. Oh Murray. When you're good, you're good.

agreeing with brewster -- when murray gold is good, he's quite good. of course, he can also be quite incredibly bad.

and i love that piece too. waaah.

it's still one of my favorite episodes.

I cry. Every time.
(and I covet Reinette's clothes HARD)

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
first time i saw it i was impressed because it was quite clever, but not as moved, because i was stuck on the "he's worth the monsters!" (which i still find gross, but am better able to ignore now). i liked it more the more i saw it. last time i saw it was not long after my partner and i split up, so i was all, 'OMG THEIR LOVE IS SO TRAGIC AND SO IS ALL LOVE WAAAAAAH". thankfully that's not how i'm feeling anymore. :D

See, I loved that episode but it makes me hate Ten even more than I already did. He was SO FUCKING STUPID and cheated this amazing woman out of the greatest experience anyone could ever hope for. How could he have not remembered what would happen when he left her on the other side of the fireplace?!?!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! I love her. And I hate him. Sorry, bb.

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
omg there are so many valid reasons to hate ten and you pick THIS ONE? it is exactly the kind of thing that happens when you are all excited and giddy and not thinking! um, not literally of course, since very few people meet their lovers through differential time portals. but metaphorically, yes! you fuck something up without thinking and then IT IS TRAGIC BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT BACK. (btw, i am not being [recently] biographical right now if you are wondering! at least, not to my knowledge!)

WhatEVER, you dirty Tenth Doctor apologist.

I thought it was stupid when I watched it, and it got progressively more ridiculous when I REwatched it. His whole damn RELATIONSHIP with her was based upon the fact that time passed differently on the different sides of the fireplace. BAH. I can't stand that stupid fucker. She was too awesome for him anyway. Hmph. <3

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
i've actually got more forgiving as i've rewatched it. but i agree that she was probably too good for him anyway. :D

[identity profile] radiantbaby.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, I've never been able to get through the episode without crying. Ever. But then I [heart] Ten/Reinette and mourn the adventures they never had together. Woe.
