so [livejournal.com profile] livii's illuminating recent post reminded me of how sadly unsatisfactory That One Scene, from spearhead from space, was: BUT how the producers kindly made it up to us, the viewers, with the last episode of the silurians.

so here is the doctor, all suited up in anti-radiation gears and such. VERY SCIENTIFIC. and then we cut directly to the next scene and see:

and then, yes, gratuitous t-shirt time. no mention is made, at any point during the rest of the episode, why the doctor needs to strip down to a short-sleever to DO SCIENCE. which is what makes it most awesome. "I'M GOIN' IN!"

liz and the brig wonder why the doctor is in his vest, and where the hell the rest of his clothes have gone. the doctor is confused by their questioning looks. "What?"

back shot!

this is to remind us, during later seasons, that the doctor's hair had not always been trying to consume his head.

"i might have set the reactor up to... erm... explode... a bit. maybe." also: GRATUITOUS TATOO MARK OF EXILE!

ACTION! EXPLOSIONS! BRIGHT LIGHTS AND THINGS! JUMPING AND SUCH!

apparently this was all too hott for the BBC.

much too hott, so to prevent further explosions we are brought back down with THIS. ;____;

which of course brings us to the real point of this post:

thanks, BBC!

Thanks, BBC, indeed! :D I always strip down to a short-sleever to DO SCIENCE. It's in the manual somewhere.

(And if it isn't, this is proof that it probably should be.)

ah yes, The Manual of Science. it's a very handy book to have at hand, let me tell you.

It is! It's from freemaagyeman.com, the page of screencaps from Crossroads. She was impossibly cute with short hair.

IT HELPS THE BRAIN THINK BETTER TRUFAX.

And dude, the macros! The macros! ::loves on you long time::

(I really, really have to watch this serial...)

that macro-series has pretty much been in my brain since i saw utopia. which means that it only takes me about... a year... to do things. erm.

(yes, do watch it. but be WARNED, for it has the worst score in the history of doctor who -- yes, that seems a bold claim, until one remembers that the score for the silurians is made entirely on incredibly discordant kazoos. but it also has geoffrey palmer, so yay! and bonus shot of ANCIENT PANGAEA).

It's to distract the radiation, innit.

From: [identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com
apparently this radiation was easily distracted by bare forearms?

I LURVS MACROTIEM!

I think it would've been cooler if they'd just said, "Yeah, Three had a tattoo. What? The Doctor can't get into body art?"

Date: 2008-03-27 07:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com
too bad three has that tatoo in his first serial, right after his regeneration, otherwise there would be loads of stories about him getting matching dragon tattoos with sherlock holmes while they are both studying baritsu in the far east.

...actually the absence of those fics is probably for the better.

Now all you need to do is picspam the bit in Krotons where the Doctor has his coat off and sleeves rolled up. Combined with the bit in "Father's Day" where Nine takes his coat off, it all serves as proof of why the Doctor's outfits always include a coat of some kind. Because yes, he IS too sexy for his shirt.

Hopefully in the next season, the Doctor will DO SCIENCE the best way. With exposed forearms.

Heh, "Fleshparts."

Perfect Utopia caps, especially the last two Ten ones.

I started thinking Utopia as soon as you said "I'm goin in" but I'm glad you took care of it, here. Thanks for this!
