I thought Tom Baker was the Doctor for me, but after Planet of the Spiders and The Green Death I'm not so sure... I mean, who else uses Venusian Aikido??
Over at the BBC site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/index_third.shtml) each Doctor has a picture and then next to the picture is a bizarre sream of consciousness description; Jon Pertwee's is definitely the best:
Dandy. Yellow car. Purple velvet. UNIT Family. Worzel Gummidge. Venusian karate. Klokeda partha menin klatch. Whomobile. Action by HAVOC. All wearing eyepatches.
I very much look forward to the day when I see the episode that will explain that last sentence. Because it sounds like the best thing ever.
Ahh, the UNIT family -- one of my favorite things about the Pertwee era.
May be wrong, but the eyepatch thing probably refers to Inferno (as opposed to The Inferno, which was a Troughton ep), in which a certain character was obliged to wear an eyepatch. Pertwee's book I Am The Doctor mentions that one day the whole cast showed up with eyepatches for a joke.
Klatch... um... means coffee in German and is a furrin country on the Disc.... now I really want to know what that's all about.

That sounds about right... and AWESOME. Thanks for the excellent information! As to the German (fake German...?) apparently we shall have to suffer ignorance for some amount of time yet...
It's a fun book. My favorite bit was when he talked about working with Troughton, who had a completely different approach to learning lines (i.e. "Isn't that what I said? Oh well, it's close enough").
