hey everyone, i'm sure there's lots of fun to be had with the most recent wank about victoria bitter/[livejournal.com profile] thanfiction/etc, but if anyone tries to justify using pronouns like "she", "he/she", "it", etc when talking about him, then i'm sure you wouldn't mind if i took you off of my friends-list.

of course, and i actually say this quite confidently, i have a great friends-list, so i would never expect that anyway. ilu guys.

*headdesking lots and lots*

Jesus Christ, people are acting as if calling [livejournal.com profile] thanfiction by his correct pronoun is a goddamn reward. Or as if referring to him as "she" is somehow a deserved punishment for his scams.

My favorite bit of bullshit so far: "If I say "he" it's like I'm insulting real trans people." Um, no.

BRB, headdesking into next Tuesday. Fandom's transphobia alternately depresses and sickens me. Argleblargh.

(LOL @ "tesseract of fail", though; you do have an awesome turn of phrase)

I'm confused by the wank itself, but it's not that hard to use the right pronouns.

Is it really that fucking hard to grasp the idea that if someone lives/identifies as male you say "he," if female you say "she," whatever their assigned birth gender? And whatever the context, "it" in reference to a person is unforgivable.

I was not happy to notice that bit of fail the other day. Like [livejournal.com profile] violetisblue says, it should not be that hard a lesson to learn that you call the person by the pronoun they prefer. FFS, people should be able to grasp it under the principle of basic politeness even if they can't wrap their heads around the concept of transgenderism in the first place.

I'll be the first person to be admit I have *lots* to learn about the issues trans and other non-cis people face. I say this as a women who has major issues with the expectations tied to being a woman! Nevertheless, that calling someone by the gender they chose to identify by is basic politeness is a pretty simple concept. *headdesk*

...wow. I'd managed not to hear about this wank until now. That's epic. (For a bit there I got confused and thought he was the one behind the "my head is pastede on yey" meme, but apparently it was someone else. LOTR fandom funnels a lot of weird through it, doesn't it.)

Lots of fail on insisting on calling him "she" or "it", though. You don't have to approve of someone as a person to respect their gender identification, you'd think F_W would know that.

Wore your "This machine kills fascists" T-shirt to a friend's party. I was advised that, if you're going to Gally, bring more of *those* T-shirts if you can, since there are a lot of Whovians among Woody Guthrie fans who would want to buy one off you.

I hadn't even heard of this person before last night, and believe me, I wasted a good couple of hours of my life reading up about the tip of the iceberg, but... yeah.

My brain is exploding from the matryoshka dolls of fail here. <--- SOMEONE HAS DOLLS ON THE BRAINS.

Wow. Blast from the past time, i haven't heard of VB since that epic LotR scam he pulled!
Pronoun fail, however, is epically fail-y, and i *really* wish English had a non-offensive gender-neutral pronoun.

Also - Prof, i haven't talked to you in about a zillion years. How are ya these days?

Exactly this. For fuck's sake, he may be the worst person in the world, but that's no excuse to be a complete transphobic asshole.
