YOU DRANK THE KOOLAID! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

i love how whoever made your icon replaced the MAD MAGAZINE with PORN but left the "we don't try very hard". obviously it is kirk's porn, then.

[identity profile] elyssadc.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Why you gotta be like that, dude?! Kirk is MADE OF SEX. Do I talk shit about the guys YOU'RE hot...oh. Wait. Heh.

Happy birthday, and welcome to the club. The secret handshake is gonna blow your mind!

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I HAVE BEEN IN THE CLUB SINCE I WAS NINE. I KNOW THE HANDSHAKE! BJO TRIMBLE TAUGHT ME THE HANDSHAKE! or, actually, i read about the handshake in a book that was published the same year i was born BUT STILL.

this is just... some weird room in the club. that was having a party and i thought it would be a bunch of dumbass teenagers getting drunk and vomiting but actually maybe it's interesting young people with a new perspective on stuff, and only a little vomiting. I DON'T KNOW.

I had too much going on to see it this weekend and am very, very sad about this. I keep hoping there's a way I can convince my husband to play hooky from work so we can go see it NOW NOW NOW.

Happy birthday early, by the way :)

i am still sitting her fairly confident that i will come home excited by the sweet AU but loving "real" trek, but who knows, maybe i will be CONVERTED. i am having new found sympathy for old school whovians before the new series came out, that's for sure. i mean, i liked doctor who but i wasn't invested in it then. now i am sitting here like "PLS DON'T DESTROY MY CHILDHOOD JJ ABRAMS KTHNX".

Happy birthday early, by the way :)

thankee. i kind of forgot it was happening until i was trying to think of a justification for spending money on a movie in the theatre.

I enjoyed it! I think you will too, and make slash fic, 'cause it's deserving. Or something o_O

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
this may sound crazy, but i actually don't slash kirk and spock. their manlove is obviously true but not gay to me, for some reason. one of my friends said that she always assumed scotty was gay recently and i was like, "...wow, that is awesome. YES."

i used to ship spock/uhura in my mind when i was wee and had never heard the term, though, and i hear there's some good resources for this in the film. but only vaguely! i don't want spoilers now that i apparently care.

"this may sound crazy, but i actually don't slash kirk and spock. their manlove is obviously true but not gay to me"

Well, duh. That's because the true slash is Spock/McCoy (http://echosphere.net/star_trek_insp/insp_spock_mccoy.png). ;)

dude, ILU.

*has possibly read spock/mccoy in the past*

I haven't seen it yet, but of course I've already read the plot summary online. I'll just say that... I have my trepidations. They certainly came up with a clever way of getting around the canon of the original series.

Also, no matter how awesome he may turn out to be in this movie, Syler will NEVER be Spock to me. (Though Simom Pegg is made of awesome no matter what.)

[identity profile] fizzixrat.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sylar will never be Spock?

How about the other way around?

I would love to see a clip of Nimoy carving up people's foreheads... ;)

YES! hilarious!

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY. It's early, right? I haven't missed it?

[identity profile] prof-pangaea.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
no it hasn't happened yet! it's on thursday. thankee!

[identity profile] atroposnomore.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
keep in mind that i was never a trekkie. i mean, i watched the movies and stuff when i was young but was never hardcore into it, buuuuut

i really liked it. evan, though, also not a trekkie, thought it was lame.

[identity profile] wra1th22.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
i liked it. and i was always a star wars guy, until several years ago. but i am familiar enough with all the series to understand references and jokes (from several fanatic friends). like the "red shirt mortality rate." lots of fan service. happy birthday.

P.S. Evan is sporadically snobby.

Can't wait to read your reaction; I loved it and am planning to see it again soon.

[identity profile] zougla.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
you will love this movie. If you don't then my gauge is totally broken from stress. But I don't think so.
