Please tell me there's a DVD. Because I've wanted to see this ever since I heard it existed. :D

Yay, Sherlock Hound! ^___^ I used to watch that as a kid. It was probably my first exposure to Japanese animation (other than Unico) and the way sparkly stuff is supposed to glitter audibly.

I made a bunch of icons of this series once... they're way back in this comm somewhere.

There was one at my local library. It even came in both Japanese and English!

indeed there is (http://www.amazon.com/Sherlock-Hound-Case-File-1/dp/B00005UM2V). i remember when they first came out in 2002 and they were MASSIVELY expensive, and i was a sad fanboy for i wanted them SO MUCH but couldn't afford them. and, er still can't. but someday! right now all i've got is one (very poor quality) VHS tape with two episodes on.

the dvd's are awesome because you can play it with the original japanese voice acting (with subtitles) or play it with the english dubbing (which i quite like actually -- the guy who plays hound reminds me of jeremy irons. if he were to appear in a very strange children's cartoon. er, other than the one).

Ooh, I think I found all of this up on YouTube at some point a couple years back. So fun! It seems to be gone now, though. :(

...however, I think I might now go in search of some Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, because I never did manage to find very much of that show.

there are some fansubs up, but they're english fansubs of italian dubs, which is just... strange. i wanted a clip of hound talking from the english dub! or one where watson makes those awesome laser beam noises for no reason when he blinks.

i keep thinking i should watch some more episodes of that series, and then i actually watch a couple minutes of it...

I particularly like 'The Small Client'. It takes liberties with the plot, and Moriarty appears as a steampunk villain rather than a scholarly schemer*, but it works. We watched it at a Holmes meet recently, back to back with O XangĂ´ de Baker Street, and unsurprisingly found Meitantei Holmes the more in-character of the two ... you know, apart from them being dogs ;)

* I rather like him, but I do have to admit it's a *little* departure from the original ;D

I still love SH22 through all its oddness...but it does require an ability to ignore some fairly eye-and-ear-sporking things. It also helps if you quite like robots ;)

I do have the whole series now, for my sins. It's my not very secret vice :)

it's like THE BEST IDEA EVER, which is why it is so sad when it is sucky. resurrected holmes, robot watson, clone of moriarty -- how can you go wrong with stuff like that??

It's a shame that the execution wasn't better, but I still enjoy playing with the ideas and setting. I know what you mean though.

I'm leaning towards mild terror myself, with a side of eager anticipation for the Lolz Factor. Which shall be strong indeed, I fear. Yee-ikes.
