anyway, the general feeling is that he was trying to make it work, but couldn't, and he knew it, but he didn't know what to do about it. the problem seems, to me, to be that he was forcing an artificial resolution onto the characters and the sitution, because he had decided at some point, "okay, romantic resolution. we'll do that." but couldn't write himself out of it when it just didn't work. everyone has problems like that -- i just don't understand why no one else could offer him any ideas. my immediate reaction was -- the doctor and rose both have to be on different sides of the universal divide to help seal the breach between worlds, and the doctor needs someone with his knowledge to help her -- so nate goes with her, helps seal the breach to save the universe, and is trapped there with rose. there is no artificial romantic resolution, but with proper writing it can be assumed that even though neither of them are where they expected to end up, they'll be okay with each other. bam! i don't know why NOBODY on team cardiff were able to come up with something like that.

i die-hard rose fans seem to have been unsatisfied with the resolution. and so were die-hard rose/doctor shippers (i think they're separate categories of fans). and so was the rest of fandom. so... everyone was rather underwhelmed.

at least we have nate. for i love him.


also: every day is friending day on the super-continent of pangaea! as long as you don't mind me friending back right away (i usually lurk forever, because of feeling more comfortable and also because of disliking twitter. yes).
