Oh, wow. The First Doctor's voice definitely comes through here, and his fear and shame at Koschei's atrocities -- along with the regret and frustration at being utterly unable to hold on to his friend -- lead right into his attitudes in the first few episodes. Koschei is reminding me of the War Chief (whom I've always considered an early incarnation of the Master), and Susan is simply adorable, completely unaware of her position as the most important presence in the Doctor's life. Wonderful story. *cheers*
