Well, the interesting thing is that Vandeleur is the name that the Stapletons went by when they were in America. Or teaching. Or something. Anyway, it was one of their many pseudonyms. And we remember how Watson reacted when Beryl was murdered in the Hound movie... although, in the movie, I tihnk their old pseudonym was Baker. So I suppose it means that Watson isn't obsessed, the screenwriter is.
