lol no. i thought s3 was... well, not good. i remember trying to watch with my roommates who were very interested until we were actually watching... not sure if they ever finished the season.
actually i've never really connected with this show except for the end of s2, which i found INCREDIBLE. but which led to basically... nothing in s3. my problem has always been that holmes and watson don't seem like actual friends, who like each other, let alone love each other. s2 seemed to be pointing towards that journey but then s3 dropped that ball utterly while also having plots that were not particularly impressive. although alfie enoch was quite gorgeous in his five minutes in the second episode.

this was always my issue with the series and other than Reichenbach Fall i never fully got it. maybe it's just because Elementary has so much more time to build out the relationship, but i found myself comparing the two and Sherlock always felt like it came up short
fwiw i heard some stuff about the latest that made me weirdly relieved i'd bailed on the show earlier, ymmv though.

i know people love blaming moff for all of its many failings but frankly it's gatiss who i think is the worse problem, since moff on his own has written some incredible pieces of television and gatiss... has not. they clearly brought out the worst in each other for this season though. (yes, i watched it. you made the right choice in bailing).

Re: Gatiss, yeah. It feels like when they're together they get a little too, idk. Caught up in trying to be clever or something, and they lose the plot and characterization.
