prof_pangaea: (the doctors keeping an eye on you)

i have not been interneting much on account of moving and then almost immediately starting a new job. and now i have been sick with cold/flu for about a week. finally had to call in this morning. i've spent most of the day sleeping with intermittent periods of wakefulness, mostly due to the 90 degree temperature in my apartment. there is no food. well, if i had energy i'm sure i could make something or other, but standing and cooking and such are right out for the moment. so i'm just laying flat on my blow-up mattress in a pair of boxers and occasionally refreshing the friendslist to see when i can get some new doctor who.

speaking of doctor who: hey, people who are "concerned" that amy can't run in those little miniskirts, or will get scratched, or her legs will be cold, honest, that's the only reason i'm complaining about her wearing them cos they're impractical: YOU'RE WATCHING DOCTOR WHO. DNA CAN TRAVEL THROUGH LIGHTNING AND THE DOCTOR CAN REGENERATE HIS HAIR GEL WITH THE POWER OF PRAYER, FOR FUCK'S SAKE. if you're really that worried about practicality and realism you should have already had eight heart attacks by now.

i should write up thoughts on episodes but that requires energy and thinkins. suffice it to say that i am enjoying this season, missing a few things from the RTD era, loving some of the new things from this era, and think that having truman capote as the doctor's creepy subconscious is pretty much brilliant.

also: it's canon that the doctor is into older ladies. that is what first attacted him to the TARDIS. it's the boys he likes young!

I hope this day of rest heals you! And eat something! At least drink plenty of water.

Are her skirts super minis? Those are actually probably relatively easy to run in, perhaps not without losing all dignity and flashing the entire vicinity... But still. It'd be those sort of mid thigh length skirts that would make
it hard to run. Or knee length. But ice capades length is cool. :D

Shorter than mid-thigh length, but perhaps not super mini.

I think you can run in those pretty ok. She is wearing tights, that will protect her some?? but more likely would tear. God, she has skinny legs.

she doesn't always wear tights, though. hmm.

D: I hope you feel better soon. Congrats on the job!

I suppose it's natural to concentrate on more mundane inconsistencies - you accept the large lapses of realism, but the tinier things bug you? I mean, I get saying that pants would probably be better. But insulting Amy for not wearing them is stupid.

Also, I think it's pretty clear that she CAN run in those skirts since...we see her running. A lot. SO.

And! The Doctor seems to usually have awesome chemistry with older women. Perhaps because they're experienced in their own race's terms and relate on a different level?

nah, it's just people looking for excuses to hate women. once again.

totes! i also have fanon that his wife on gallifrey was much older than him (and they were both sort of black sheep in their family houses which is why the marriage was arranged, but they ended up getting along really well and loving ahc other anyway).

i think it had some issues but on the whole it was exploring new territory and was pretty good. i liked it. i might have loved it but the intensely obvious and puerile indie rock song they laid over the ending actually ruined it for me. oh well.

yeah, the song at the end was pretty bad. on a whole the episode really touched me emotionally though (mostly vincent) and i liked it a lot.

Hope you're feeling better (or at least are very soon). I was quite sick last week, so I definitely feel your pain. Get lots of rest, drink lots of water, read about dinosaurs, watch Doctor Who, and generally be good to yourself. *hug*
