ha, this reminds me of the time someone on LJ told me that gays needed to earn their rights, because, (in their exact words), "with great power comes great responsibility". i was like, woah, why didn't anyone tell me that being queer gave me super strength and the ability to shoot webbing from my wrists?! that would have been really useful information to have at various points in my life, let me tell you.

i pretty much said the above, and then ended up defriending the person (not because they were horrible, just because i wasn't really feeling like doing queer 101 every time we talked). lesson: do not automatically friend everyone you meet at a con. which is why i take so long to friend back nowadays.
