hmm. i feel like the best sentences aren't generally from the best fics. i dunno, maybe it's because a lot of them are long and so the first sentence doesn't really give you much of a feeling of what's really going to happen? sentence 02 is from the ten/master/handy fic, for example. 08 is handy/jackie but i think that's not bad. most of these will probably change by the time they're done anyway -- the first one is broken up into (a) and (b) because i accidentally wrote a short (and sad) handy/rose yesterday and then had [livejournal.com profile] cesario read it and tell me all the many things that were wrong with it. then she had me do a an exercise and write a drabble around the two most important sentences from the first draft, and that's where 01 (a) comes from. so now i will rewrite it again and i'm sure the first sentence will be neither of those things.

also there's a lot of sameness. "[Name] does/thinks something." hmmm.
