Well, hey! :-D I don't know why I'd thought S3 was officially the last one.

lis sladen intimated it was likely to be the last series when she was at chiTARDIS. i personally thought it was likely, because RTD is moving on and the craziness that has kept doctor who so popular that it's able to float itself plus two drama spinoffs (torchwood and SJA) and two factual shows (doctor who confidential and totally doctor who) is just not going to be sustainable forever. i figured the changeover would be an elegant time to start winding it all down, instead of waiting for things to start dropping in the ratings and losing populairt and *having* to be cancelled.

but apparently TW was the highest rated drama on bbc3 and bbc america, SJA is highest rated drama on cbbc, and doctor who itself is still incredibly popular, so the bbc probably wants to keep them going for as long as possible, especially in the current economic climate. i think at this point it's all up to russell t davies and whether he wants to keep working on them; if he leaves either show that'll be the end of it.
